Product detailed description
Electrode E8018-W2 for welding of patinated Corten steels
Basic electrode for welding of COR-TEN patinated steels with very low hydrogen and carbon content. The electrode cover, containing an extruded moisture resistant alkaline flux, helps to ensure a controlled electrode penetration. Electrode yield 120 %. Smooth arc, low spatter, easy ignition and re-ignition. Specifications: AWS E8018-W2.
The electrode is mainly used for welding weathering resistant steel. The weld metal is resistant to corrosion in seawater, especially in Arctic waters with high oxygen and salinity. It is suitable for welding micro-alloyed carbon-manganese steels in icebreakers and offshore structures, for architectural structures, bridges, etc.
For welding steels: Corten A, B1 (US Steels), PATINAX, DILLICOR, BS4360 Grade WR50A to WR50C, ASTM A588 Grade A, B, C, K. DIN 1.8960, 1.8961, 1.8963.

To ensure a low hydrogen content in the weld metal < 5 ml/100, only dry electrodes must be used. If the electrodes become wet, they must be dried at 300-350°C for 1-2 hours. Do not exceed 420°C!
