How to weld aluminium with electrode?

CHEM-WELD's specific aluminum electrode coating reacts with aluminum oxides to form a protective gas shield over the weld bath, which reduces oxygen absorption and thus significantly prevents the formation of inclusions.

When welding aluminium with an electrode, it is necessary to remove the aluminium oxide by cleaning the welded parts (removal of dirt, degreasing and grinding). Also clean the surface of the material at the clamping point of the grounding clamp. The actual welding must follow immediately after cleaning, otherwise the material will be degraded again. Only dried electrodes should be used due to possible hydrogen problems and subsequent porosity of the weld.

Material up to thickness of. 5-8 mm can be welded without preheating, larger thicknesses with 80-250°C preheating.

Connect the welding cable with the electrode to the + pole. Set the welding parameters. Use the HOT START function to ignite the electrode, if the welding machine allows it, setting the welding parameters to approximately 130% of the standard welding current. Guide the electrode perpendicular to the material to be welded. Weld with a very short arc at a higher speed. If the weld shape is high, it is necessary to use preheat, or increase the welding current, or increase the welding speed. The slag formed can be easily removed, thus eliminating the formation of corrosion.

Společnost CHEM-WELD byla založena v  Rakousku roku 1967 panem Siegfriedem Schweigerem.

Název CHEM-WELD znamená spojení chemie a svařování.

Prvním výrobkem bylo speciální lepidlo na kov Chem-Stahl 1000 HT,  které nahrazovalo svařování v dolech JAR.
